Production Task - Research analysis - Double Page Spreads

This double page spread is spilt up into 6 columns - this shows the layout follows the conventions of a typical magazine layout. The top part of the pages have all written text and at the bottom the audience we the image of the artist they have written about. We can tell this magazine is meant for teenagers around the age of 16+ as they talk about artists who use explicit lyrics containing swear words/offensive language. The magazine looks as if it's mainly targetted towards the male audience as it's to do with Hip Hop/Rap music which mainly appeals to the men. The colours they also use in this magazine double page spread are masucline as they use Black and White which are quite dull and not feminie at all, however the use of the colour Red brings the page alive so it is not too dull or boring, the use of the red font helps to attract the audiences eye. Some of the text have been boxed around, which also catches the audiences eye and makes them read the text.

Production Task - Research analysis - Double Page Spreads

This is a double page spread for a rock magazine. This fits into the whole rock genre as the layout isn't really neat. It's more messy and jagged around the edges and the pictures are all layed out on one another this shows how it is also appealing towards the younger audience as teenagers are quite messy. The colours that have been used (White, black and red) are quite masculine colours so therefore it appeals towards the male audience.
There also isn't much text in this double page spread as teenagers don't really like to read as much so that's another way we know it's targetted towards the younger ones.

Production Task - Research analysis - Contents Page

The layout of this contents page is spilt up into 3 columns.
The colours, red, white and black, appeal towards the male audience. The contents page focus on Hip Hop/ Rap music and the layout is completely different to any other genre music magazine. The text is all alined neatly towards the right hand side of the page whilst the image is blown up to cover the whole page, but it is covering more towards the left so it doesn't go over the writing.

Production Task - Research analysis - Contents Page

This is a contents page for a rock music magazine Kerrang! It's spilt into 3 different columns. The layout is following the theme of the magazine as it follows the same colours as the front cover did. The bright colours such as yellow suggest it is for a younger male audience. The capital letters also suggest that it's targetted towards the male audience.
The images used on this page falls into the convention of the genre of the magazine. Not everything is neat and tidy it's sort of jagged which falls into the whole Punk Rock genre.

Production Task - Research analysis - Front page

This is a magazine front cover I have analysed.
The genre of this music magazine is Hip hop/ Rap. Many of the artists in the magazine are American.
The colours that are used are mainly masculine colours. The bold language and capital letters of the Masthead/Kicker also show a masculine style which is all aimed towards a male audience.
The masthead is slightly covered by the main image of The Game, this shows that the music magazine is quite popular and well known to have the title slightly covered up.
The language that is used by the source is very easy as it's simple to read and gets straight to the point. This is due to because it's main target audience is young males/ teenagers.
The layout of the magazine is quite basic as the text is neatly in line with each other and the front cover is not too jam packed or overly busy.
